Project: The Courthouse Hotel, London

Services:

Cost Management & Quantity Surveying
Project Details

Virtus provided Quantity Surveying services on an adapted management type contract for the alterations of an existing courthouse with new construction to the rear to form a four star hotel. The hotel comprises 113 rooms and also has a swimming pool. cinema. restaurant. gym and bistro. The cells of the existing courthouse have also been retained as part of the bar area.

The project comprised the remodelling of the Grade II Listed Marlborough Street Magistrates Court to form the Courthouse Hotel. The building has an intriguing history and this led to some very interesting design features which were retained as a result of the former courthouse hosting trials involving well known names such as Oscar Wilde, Johnny Rotten, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

The Magistrates Suites occupying the high-ceiling Judges quarters on the first, second and third floor of the original building, offering West End accommodation with views of Carnaby Street and Liberty’s, are bedecked with original Robert Adams fireplaces and oak flooring.

The project delivered 113 rooms, a swimming pool, cinema, restaurant, gym and bistro.  The cells of the existing courthouse were also been retained as part of the bar area – requiring significant temporary works which required careful budgeting during the project.

Our team provided traditional Quantity Surveying services under an adapted Management Contract Form. Responsible for the development of the initial budget, works package procurement and evaluation and post contract Quantity Surveying services.
