New Graduate Trainee at Virtus!

_DSC2117_SMALLaAs a university graduate, Michael Tarplee was seeking an opportunity to take his first step into a career in the construction industry and was eager to prove his worth.

Michael had undertaken as part of his construction management degree a placement year within the industry to gain experience on a construction site and learn first-hand about the practical application of his university learning.

Having finished university in May 2013, Michael applied for the advertised position for a Graduate Project Manager at Virtus Consult.

Michael says: ‘Having spent hours  scrolling through companies; Virtus stood out and after having researched Virtus’ core values; clients and products, I felt the position would be the ideal place for me to begin my career. The potential to work in a close knit team was more appealing than being a small fish in a big pond whilst the standard of learning and training remains at an exceptional level’.

‘My time here so far has provided me with invaluable experience that most companies struggle to match. I have been assigned the role of Assistant Project Manager on a complex and challenging project for Heart of England NHS. On a daily basis I am supporting the successful operation of established professional procedures and protocols for managing the projects. I am constantly learning new concepts of project management which improves and strengthens my professional skill set. Virtus offer a wealth of opportunity for my future development and I’m looking forward to deploying my learning on future commissions.’
