Barton Firtop Engineering: World Leading Filtration Gets a New Home

Virtus Consult is providing Employers Agent and Cost Management services for a new manufacturing, testing, warehouse and office facility for Barton Firtop Engineering. The new 45,000sqft manufacturing facility will combine operations from three sites into one new development at Silverwoods Business Park in Kidderminster.

Site Progress at 12 November 2020

The new development represents the first phase of a growth plan to extend the manufacturing capacity as the company expands. Over the last decade the company has more than doubled its staff base and with the investment at Silverwoods it remains on course to expand further, based on the increasing demand for its world leading filtration products.

The key features of the new factory include:

  • a modern high specification industrial building with ancillary design offices and preparatory works for future expansion. The first phase represents a GIFA of 45,000sqft
  • ground source heat pump
  • 11m eaves
  • 1 level access loading doors
  • car parking for 99 cars
  • two storey Cat B office accommodation

The Contractor for the development is Benniman Ltd with One Creative Environments providing multidisciplinary design services.

Construction commenced in late-July 2020 with Practical Completion scheduled for April 2021.

Kevin Troughton, managing director at Barton Firtop, added: “This is a really exciting time for the company enabling our current level of growth to progress to the next stage.

“Our company currently has space limitations and this problem is compounded by operating between three separate sites, so this new-build will enhance our capabilities and enable us to meet ever increasing capacity requirements, ultimately resulting in further increases in turnover and staffing levels.”
