Collaborating within a complex project organisation, Virtus have been appointed to manage the £100m phased regeneration of an operational nuclear fuel production facility. Working within the constraints of a nuclear licensed site we have managed the facility design of the new infrastructure and facilities, decommissioning and demolition of redundant facilities, construction and handover to operations. Our role has involved working closely with safety case and manufacturing engineering functions to develop the design for a flexible facility, engineered to withstand naturally occurring phenomena and working with regulatory functions to attain a permission to construct. Following the development and execution of a detailed procurement strategy we have managed the construction phase, overseen build assurance, managed the design changes and facilitated progressive handover of facilities to enable occupation by manufacturing operations.
