Virtus are delighted that the NDE facility for their client in Derby has been successfully completed and handed over to them on budget and in time for critical business operations. The mass concrete structure will provide radiological shielding from its 1.5m thick walls and roof. The project, which was delivered under a traditional building contract was managed by Virtus from concept and procurement through to completion and met client programme and cost requirements. In order to reduce costs, Virtus instigated innovative procurement and construction methods to succeed in reducing the original project cost by 25%. These required key aspects of the project to be removed from the main contract and their design and delivery managed directly by Virtus, who also managed an extensive change management process, the design team and undertook the role of Contract Administrators for the main building contract.
The client is very impressed with the overall efficiency, coordination and teamwork led by Virtus leading to the successful delivery of this highly complex project.
