The NHS Sustainability Roadshow was in London on the 25th February for the latest in a series of five events leading up to the big day.
Jan Ponsford presented the case study of the Energy Sustainability Project that Virtus have led for Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust. This project, now in its third year, has successfully achieved an 18% reduction in energy costs for the trust, and guaranteed those savings through an OJEU compliant procurement framework
The fantastic venue of the main hall at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, saw attendees from NHS Trusts and supporting organisations from all over the country join together to hear about some of the amazing work being done.
The 2015 NHS Carbon footprint carried out by Sustainable Development shows that the NHS has not only achieved the 2009 carbon reduction strategy target of 10% reduction, but has surpassed it with a reduction of 11%. This is a notable achievement, but with even steeper reductions to be delivered in the next five years, there has never been a better time for NHS Managers to fully take control of their energy demand.
