Virtus appointed by Oxford University Hospitals

New Radiotherapy unit at Great Western Hospital, Swindon.

Virtus have been appointed to support Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the enabling works for the construction of a new radiotherapy unit, which will be built on the Great Western Hospital site in Swindon.

The new unit, which will be managed by OUH as an expansion of their radiotherapy service already provided in Oxford, was given the green light after NHS England agreed to the updated marginal tariff costs for providing radiotherapy treatment.

Brighter Futures is the registered charity of Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Its Radiotherapy Appeal aims to raise £2.9 million to fund equipment for a new radiotherapy unit at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.

The unit will be an expansion of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s radiotherapy service, meaning local cancer patients no longer have to make the 70-mile round trip to Oxford for treatment.

Local people are urged to continue their support for the Radiotherapy Appeal which has already raised £350,000 of the £2.9 million needed to bring radiotherapy to Swindon.
