As part of an ongoing commission to provide Programme & Project Management, Quantity Surveying & Cost Management services, Virtus were also appointed to develop and deliver a structured Health and Safety Training Programme across all workstreams within this complex project organisation. Working with the Principal Contractor, the aims were as follows;

  • Support the goal of zero injuries and accidents
  • Cultivate a self-reinforcing safety culture across the entire project team.
  • Create a framework to quantify and measure progress towards a sustainable safety culture; one that allowed the project team to chart progress and adapt strategies to ensure a positive outcome.
  • Make it possible to benchmark safety culture within a project, and measure against the industry.

As a result of the teamwork and collaboration between the Principal Contractor, Client, Project Team and Virtus the already good safety culture within the project was further strengthened with accident and incident levels, some 64% better than industry benchmarks.
