Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust appointed Virtus to deliver an Energy Reduction Programme across their estate of three hospital in Birmingham, Solihull and Sutton Coldfield. Utilising our award-winning process we achieved the following benefits:

  • Guaranteed Savings of circa £931k per annum.
  • An 18% reduction in overall energy expenditure.
  • A payback on capital investment averaging 4.3 years with Grant funding.
  • Total savings of £14m over 15 years.
  • Option for funding directly by the contractor paid through savings.
  • Continued Improvement through identification of new initiatives.
  • Low Implementation costs less than 0.05% of savings.
  • Readymade suite of procurement documentation.
  • Speed of implementation 6 to 9 months from appointment.

This scheme combined with CHP has allowed the trust to meet its carbon targets of 25% carbon reduction from 2007/08 levels over 5 years.
